General Observations

Toured from Eaglecrest parking lot up Mt. Troy on 3/15/19. Temps just at/below freezing - rain on the drive up and snow at the parking lot. Route and General Observations:  The UAS ODS Av 2 class traveled by lift to the Eagles Nest, Eagle Crest Ski Area, then hiked to Pittman's Ridge, accessing the S aspect, digging pits at 2850' with avg. slope angle of 28deg, then descending via Heavenly to the ski area.  Red Flags:  The group observed isolated R1D.5 Wet Loose…

General Observations

Skied W and SW aspects on Troy and False Troy. Dug at pit at marked location with CT 21 @ 32 cm and ECTN 21 @ 38cm. Pit depth was 120cm. We didn't go to the top of Troy, but the top of False Troy was seemingly untouched by the wind event during the night of 1/5.

Took summer route up and down Gastineau to check out ice crust before any new snow falls.  I don't have a lot of experience with ice/rain crusts accept that nasty one two years ago.  The current ice crust on the ridges of Gastineau seems similar to two years ago.  Very smooth, slick, and potentially bad?  Something…

General Observations

Skied Dan Moller today during the storm.  5” of new snow and light winds.  Numerous hand sheer tests indicated the new snow was bonding well to the previous layer.  Dug one pit at 2300’, NE aspect, 34 degree slope.  Snow depth was 75cm.  CT 21 Q2.  Failed at the ground on what appeared to be facets.…

General Observations

 Skied SE, S, and WSW aspects between 1200-3000ft on Douglas. Base is setting up nice with the damp first storm cooling down above 2,000ft. The new snow came in right side up and is currently stable with minimal wind damage. Great skiing conditions. Exited Cropley Chute with great turns top to bottom. Only found one isolated…
