North American motorized accident statistics and recent case studies were covered in an hour long presentation sponsored by the Alaska Department of Public Safety and Alaska State Troopers. This was presented by Tim Thomas, a forecaster and educator with the the Haines Avalanche Center who specializes in sled specific avalanche education and is a mechanized heli-ski guide. Here is a link to the full video.
Highlights include a big picture look and recent statistics of motorized accidents, tools for risk managements, videos, a case study from this season and Alaska sled accidents overview. Many of the details came from a nation wide database of avalanche accidents courtesy of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center that can be found with this link.
