General Observations

Skied Up McCallum Creek on approach to Institute. Pit dug on south aspect Saturday indicated powdery stable active layer on top of over a meter of hard stable snowpack. Pit dug Sunday morning after 6 inches of overnight snow accumulation indicated that new snowpack was unstable, whiteout conditions forced us to descend down from the glacier to the creek bed. On return to car we remote-triggered lots of ankle-deep sluff avalanches on the canyon walls surrounding McCallum creek.
