Recent Weather

We’ve received over a foot of new snow at all elevations; Twice as much as expected. Moderate east winds have loaded western aspects. Observations have been limited, though instability exists within the new snow.

Another 5 inches of snow is forecast for tonight with continued moderate east wind. Precipitation should taper Saturday as winds shift to the northeast. Avalanches are not expected to affect the highway yet. Backcountry users should give the snowpack time to bond and heal. Another warmer wetter storm will increase the avalanche hazard Monday.
