Avalanche Activity

Human triggered storm slab avalanche activity reported over the Thanksgiving weekend:

Weather

Northeast wind transporting Nov.24 snow.

Announcements

Early season instabilities exist: wind slab and storm snow buried Nov.21 surface hoar. Recognize avalanche terrain and make a riding plan that avoids new slab built by northeast wind. Regular weekend forecasts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) will begin in December. In the meantime, remember to renew your Valdez Avalanche Center membership and share your observations.
