Degrees of Avalanche Danger

Weather

Strong winds and heavy precipitation quickly loaded western slopes Saturday, causing another avalanche cycle. Mostly dry weather since Saturday evening has allowed the avalanche hazard to decrease. Expect temperatures to drop below freezing tonight. Models suggest a half inch of water Wednesday with the freezing line fluctuating around sea level. This should translate into 6 inches of snow at higher elevations. Moderate east winds will load western aspects.
